Leather
One of the most popular upholstery coverings for sofas, love-seats and chairs is leather. Real leather is a natural product — it’s warm and durable, and has individual characteristics which make each hide unique.
There are a few different types of leather that are used for furniture. Pigmented leather is the most durable with a consistent surface appearance, while aniline leather is more natural looking, but less resistant to soiling. The third type, semi-aniline leather, is somewhere between on both counts.
Fabric
There are several different fabric options for sofas, love-seats and chairs. Each different type holds its own unique characteristics, from stain and fade resistance to strength and style.
Sofa fabrics are separated into natural fibres (like cotton, linen, wool, silk, rayon) and synthetics (like acrylic, polyester, nylon, olefin, polypropylene). And it’s important to note that synthetic fibres will always be more durable and stain resistant than natural fibres.
